Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, a prominent Republican, is taking legal action against the House Board of Managers. Paxton alleges that they released his personal information, including his home address, which he claims put him and his family in harm’s way. This exclusive report has learned that Paxton intends to file criminal complaints against the individuals responsible.
According to Paxton, the House impeachment managers made his personal information public on October 2nd. He asserts that this move was intended to threaten and harm him. Paxton plans to submit complaints to the county prosecutors of each manager involved. He is also urging all relevant districts to investigate the alleged criminal offenses.
In a statement to the Daily Caller, Paxton expressed his concerns: “My family and I receive multiple threats of violence. The legislature passed an anti-doxing law to stop the far left from using intimidation tactics like leaking or releasing personal information that would allow nefarious individuals to do harm to elected officials. The impeachment managers clearly have a desire to threaten me with harm when they released this information last week.
Paxton’s legal action is based on Texas Statute 42.074, which was codified in the Texas Penal Code Section 42.074, effective since September 1, 2023. The statute defines an offense as follows: “a person commits an offense if the person posts on a publicly accessible website the residence address or telephone number of an individual with the intent to cause harm or a threat of harm to the individual or a member of the individual’s family or household.
It’s worth noting that Ken Paxton recently faced an impeachment trial, which concluded on September 18th. During the trial, lawmakers accused him of corruption, bribery, obstruction, and other charges. However, Paxton was acquitted of all impeachment articles.
Paxton is expected to file the criminal complaints on Monday morning, according to our sources. The case is likely to draw significant attention as it involves both political and legal ramifications.
