CANDO, N.D. — A devastating rollover crash in the early hours of Saturday, May 27, has resulted in the death of a 31-year-old woman and left a 20-year-old man injured. The incident occurred near Cando, North Dakota, as the car they were traveling in veered off the road and overturned, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
The victims, identified as Brittney Beck and Jayce Thomas, both residents of Cando, were traveling east in a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu on North Dakota Highway 66 in Towner County. Around 5:47 a.m., Thomas lost control of the vehicle, crossing over the westbound lane and entering the north ditch, as reported by the Highway Patrol. Tragically, the car collided with a field approach, causing it to roll multiple times before igniting in flames.
During the violent sequence of events, Beck was ejected from the vehicle, and unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries at the scene. It was discovered that neither Beck nor Thomas were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash, amplifying the severity of their injuries, according to the Highway Patrol.
