Former President Donald Trump’s unconventional move to sell pieces of the suit he wore during his Georgia mugshot earlier this year has been criticized by his former communications aide, Alyssa Farah Griffin. Despite the staggering amounts spent on legal fees and donor funds allocated to cover his trials, Griffin has urged the public not to support what she perceives as a scam orchestrated by Trump.
As of Tuesday, Trump has announced the sale of his mugshot suit as a means to offset the mounting legal costs, with an already substantial $37 million spent on legal fees and an additional $130 million in donor funds allocated for trials.
Meanwhile, another Republican figure, former Representative George Santos (R-NY), has taken an unconventional path by offering personalized video messages on Cameo. Initially quoting $200 per video, Santos has increased his rate to $400, now standing at $500 per video.
Expressing her frustration, Griffin exclaimed, “I hate this so much… Do not support known fraudsters by paying money to…” Griffin emphasized that Trump’s consistent track record of losses for the GOP and actions detrimental to the country signal that it’s time to move on from his divisive politics.
In her criticism, Griffin pointed out that Trump has not won an election since 2016, stating, “This just shows how ridiculous our politics have gotten – all about enriching himself and staying out of jail.”
Speculating on Trump’s motivation, Sunny Hostin suggested that the suit sale could be a sign of financial desperation, remarking, “You know what it showed me? He’s really broke and doesn’t have any money and is not a business person. When you have to sell pieces of your suit that you wore during your mugshot, you know, for criminal charges? Like how low can you go?”
Reports have emerged that Trump has already spent $2.5 million on expert witnesses in his legal battles. Adding another layer to his financial situation, it was revealed on Tuesday that Trump utilized his legal defense fund to host a lavish party at Mar-a-Lago.
As controversies surrounding Trump’s financial decisions continue to spark debate and criticism, voices like Griffin’s serve as a reminder to exercise caution and discernment when faced with opportunities tied to controversial figures.
