Former White House attorney Ty Cobb has made a stark prediction about the future of his old boss, Donald Trump. Cobb, who served as a White House lawyer under Trump, spoke out on CNN on Monday, expressing his expectation that Trump might end up behind bars soon due to a violation of a gag order.
Trump currently faces two gag orders related to his social media attacks on individuals involved in his various court cases. Last week, he was fined $10,000 for a second violation of the gag order in the New York civil case, which prohibits him from disparaging members of the court staff. However, Cobb highlighted that the other gag order issued by U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan in the Washington, D.C. election interference case is more significant.
Judge Chutkan reinstated her order on Sunday, prohibiting Trump from disparaging prosecutors, court staff, or potential witnesses. According to Cobb, Trump continues to violate this order, and he predicts that the judge will take a strong stance against these violations.
“I think she’ll come in with a much heavier penalty,” Cobb stated during his CNN interview with Erin Burnett. “And ultimately, I think he’ll spend a night or a weekend in jail. I think it’ll take that to stop him.”
Cobb’s prediction raises serious concerns about the legal challenges faced by the former president. Despite the fines imposed on him, Trump’s defiance of the gag orders has led legal experts to speculate about the potential consequences he might face.
It remains to be seen how Judge Chutkan will respond to Trump’s repeated violations of the gag order. As the legal proceedings unfold, the possibility of Trump spending time in jail looms, marking a significant development in the ongoing legal battles surrounding the former president. The situation continues to evolve, and observers are closely watching for further developments in this high-stakes legal saga.
