Gayle King is reassuring everyone that Oprah Winfrey is on the mend. The CBS reporter took to Instagram on June 12, sharing photos of herself in a customized T-shirt to address concerns about Winfrey’s recent hospitalization due to a stomach virus.
King, 69, wrote, “Just got back to the office and 10 people asked me the same question … here’s the answer! And swipe left.” The photos show King wearing a black T-shirt over a yellow top, paired with a black skirt. The shirt’s front reads, “OPRAH is FINE! Thank you for asking,” while the back says, “She appreciates your concern!”
In the images, King stands before a large portrait of Winfrey and a sign reading “Oprah Daily.”
The Instagram post received a playful comment from Oprah Daily, “Now we need to get Lady O a shirt that says ‘Whatever Gayle says’ in the front 😂.”

Winfrey, 70, was hospitalized on June 11 after missing a scheduled appearance on CBS Mornings due to a stomach virus. King informed viewers of Winfrey’s absence, explaining, “She had some kind of stomach thing — stomach flu — stuff was coming out of both ends.” King continued, “I won’t get too graphic. Needless to say, she ended up in the hospital, dehydration, had to get an IV.”
On June 12, King updated fans with a video of her FaceTime conversation with Winfrey. “I was in the emergency room, I was so dehydrated,” Winfrey explained. “I had a dry mouth and I couldn’t keep enough water down to get hydrated, so I went to the emergency room for that, and that’s just it.” Winfrey mentioned she was “not 100 [percent]; I’m on my way to 100,” and noted others in her household were also ill.
Earlier this week, a spokesperson for Winfrey told PEOPLE she is doing well. “Ms. Winfrey is recovering following a stomach virus and received an IV due to dehydration at the recommendation of her doctor. She is resting and feeling better every day.”
