Georgia Representative Mike Collins, a Republican, has once again stirred controversy on social media with a disparaging joke targeting Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and the Kennedy family. Collins’ remarks, posted on X (formerly Twitter), drew swift condemnation for their insensitivity and lack of decorum.
In his post, Collins quipped, “You either die a Kennedy with a hole in the brain or live long enough to become a Kennedy with a hole in the brain,” referencing Kennedy’s past admission of experiencing a brain worm.
The joke also invoked the tragic assassinations of Kennedy’s father, former Senator Robert F. Kennedy, and his uncle, former President John F. Kennedy, both fatally shot in the head in the 1960s.
Social media responses were overwhelmingly critical, with Attorney Bradley P. Moss calling the remark “disgusting,” Jenna Ellis expressing a firm “No,” and conservative columnist Quinn Hyler labeling it as “sick.”
Journalist Mike Hardwood characterized the post as “repugnant,” reflecting widespread outrage online.
Collins’ post quickly gained attention, accumulating over 1.3 million views and nearly 6,000 replies within hours. The public outcry highlights the seriousness of trivializing health issues and tragic events.
Attempts to reach Collins’ office and Kennedy’s campaign for comment were unsuccessful, adding to the controversy.
This incident follows previous controversies involving Collins on social media, including recent backlash over his handling of a confrontation at the University of Mississippi.
Collins’ latest remarks have reignited concerns about his judgment and suitability for public office, prompting further scrutiny of his actions and statements.
