In a candid interview on ABC’s “The View” on Wednesday, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton expressed grave concerns about the possibility of Donald Trump being reelected as President of the United States. Speaking to the show’s hosts, Clinton stated unequivocally that reelecting Trump “would be the end of our country as we know it.”
During the episode, Clinton discussed various topics, including recent presidential polling, local election results, and the Israel-Hamas war. When asked about her apprehensions regarding Trump potentially returning to office, Clinton did not hold back.
“I can’t even think that because I think it would be the end of our country as we know it,” Clinton told host Sunny Hostin. “And I don’t say that lightly.”
Clinton, who acknowledged her disappointment over losing the 2016 election to Trump, reminded viewers that she had encouraged people to give him a chance after his victory. However, she emphasized that her concerns about his presidency were validated when she witnessed his actions from his inauguration onwards.
“I tried really hard,” she continued. “And then, literally, from his inauguration on, it was nothing but, you know, accusing people of things, making up facts, denying the size of the crowd at his own inauguration. And everything that I worried about, I saw unfolding. And so I think that he’d be even worse now.”
Alyssa Farah Griffin, one of the hosts, echoed Clinton’s sentiments, noting that any constraints that existed around Trump in his first term would disappear if he were to be reelected.
“He was somewhat restrained, believe it or not, in the first term, by people who he hired, because he thought they would go along with him, and they stood up to him,” Clinton said.
She further warned, “And so now he is going to, if he were ever near the Oval Office again, find people who have no principles, no conscience, who are totally tied to his fortunes, literally, and therefore would do whatever he said. And so the wreckage is almost unimaginable.”
Clinton’s remarks on “The View” underscore her deep concerns about the potential consequences of another
Trump presidency, emphasizing the need for careful consideration among the American electorate.
