Former President Donald Trump has intensified his public campaign against special counsel Jack Smith, accusing him of actively contributing to what Trump deems the “destruction of America” under President Biden. In a scathing Truth Social post on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, Trump did not mince words as he labeled Smith a “crooked prosecutor” engaged in “weaponization and election interference.”
The post, marked by fiery language and accusations, sheds light on Trump’s ongoing narrative and his response to recent developments. Trump alleges that Smith is assisting President Biden in undermining the nation through what he terms as “weaponization and election interference.”
“He is helping his Corrupt and Incompetent President to destroy America through Weaponization and ELECTION INTERFERENCE!,” Trump declared in the post.
In a strategic move, Trump invoked the name of Ed Meese from the Reagan era, claiming that Meese had Smith figured out perfectly. Trump’s Christmas Day message, delivered via social media, took an unconventional turn as he wished “Merry Christmas” while simultaneously criticizing opponents, with a particular focus on Jack Smith, whom he portrayed as an ally of Joe Biden.
Trump’s post not only included criticism of Smith but also a litany of grievances against the Biden administration, depicting them as forces seeking to diminish the greatness of the United States.
Amidst this online tirade, Trump openly shared articles criticizing the Colorado Supreme Court’s decision to bar him from the state’s primary ballot. The court had cited Trump’s involvement in what they deemed an insurrection, fueled by false claims of election fraud, leading to the Capitol riot.
In response, Trump vehemently denounced the ruling as a “shame for our country” and alleged that all cases against him were orchestrated by the Department of Justice and the White House.
Defending himself against the insurrection label, Trump emphasized his call for supporters to protest “peacefully and patriotically” on January 6, 2021, countering President Biden’s claim that he supported an insurrection by unequivocally stating, “I’m not an insurrectionist. Crooked Joe Biden is!”
Continuing his assault on special counsel Jack Smith, Trump asserted his entitlement to total presidential immunity regarding the charges he faces on Sunday. He reiterated his claims that Smith is operating on Biden’s behalf, accusing the administration of spying on his campaign, lying to Congress, and engaging in “election interference” at unprecedented levels.
Strategically, Trump highlighted support from fellow GOP presidential candidate Chris Christie, who expressed reservations about Trump being precluded from the ballot by a court. The former President showcased quotes from Christie, emphasizing that voters, not the court, should decide Trump’s eligibility for the presidency.
