A Devoted Husband and Conservator
In April, Jay was appointed conservator of Mavis’s estate, a decision that grants him authority over her health and financial decisions. The court documents revealed Mavis’s progressive cognitive decline, with Jay stating he has managed their finances throughout their 43-year marriage and intends to continue doing so until his death.
A Lifelong Commitment
Married since 1980, Jay and Mavis have no children. A court-appointed official noted that despite Mavis’s cognitive impairment, she remains a charming and communicative individual who places great trust in Jay. Her doctor confirmed that Mavis sometimes struggles to recognize Jay or remember her date of birth. The court approved Jay’s petition after reviewing evidence and testimonies from Mavis’s medical team.
Creating a Living Trust and Will
Jay has submitted a new petition for a Living Trust and Will, seeking court approval. His wife has only one sibling, her brother Rikki Nicholson, and no other close relatives. Jay’s plan includes the Leno Trust and the Will of Mavis Leno, aimed at ensuring Mavis receives continuous care.
Ensuring Lifetime Care and Security
Jay’s substantial resources allow for excellent lifetime care for Mavis in their home. His petition outlines a revocable living trust funded by their community property assets, with Jay as the initial trustee. The trust ensures that upon the death of either spouse, funds will be allocated to the Leno Support Trust for the benefit of Mavis’s brother and Jay’s nephew, Richard Leno, providing them with financial security.
