Former star of “The Apprentice,” Jemelin Artigas, recently shared her harrowing journey of hitting rock bottom and considering taking her own life, only to rise again and achieve significant financial success.
Struggles After The Apprentice
Jemelin Artigas, who appeared on series 15 of the BBC’s “The Apprentice,” embraced the fame and opportunities the show initially brought her. She frequently attended events and collaborated with various brands. However, as new seasons aired, the offers began to dry up. By 2021, Jemelin found herself in a deep depression, overwhelmed by financial difficulties, and contemplating suicide.
Facing Criticism and Depression
After leaving the show, Jemelin returned to working in events but faced criticism and disdain from others. “I’d changed my hair, specifically to not get recognised,” she shared. She described how people’s comments about her failure to secure an investment from Lord Sugar deeply affected her, leading to a severe decline in her mental health. By 2022, Jemelin had stopped working altogether and was drowning in debt and depression.
Turning Point
Despite her struggles, Jemelin’s life took a dramatic turn. With only £40 in her bank account, she managed to transform her financial situation. In just 30 days, her balance skyrocketed to over £18,000. This turnaround began when she decided to take an online marketing course in August 2023, despite her dire financial state and a low credit score.
Rebuilding and Success
Jemelin dedicated herself to learning digital marketing, investing all her time and energy into mastering the new skills. “When you’re at rock bottom and there’s no way out, I went on a whim, I learnt. It was exciting, I didn’t sleep out of stress, it was excitement to learn and get out of the dark place,” she said.
Today, Jemelin’s business, Digital Passive Academy, is thriving. She helps people with digital marketing through her academy, providing free training to assist as many individuals as possible. Her inspiring story is a testament to resilience and determination, showing that even the darkest times can lead to new beginnings and success.
