Jenna Ortega, known for her role in “Wednesday,” credits Winona Ryder for easing her journey into fame associated with their upcoming film, “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.” In a recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Ortega expressed gratitude towards Ryder, stating that the veteran actor “definitely helped” alleviate the isolation and fear that come with newfound fame.
“It’s a very isolating experience and a scary one,” Ortega shared. “Being able to speak to somebody who had witnessed that firsthand, maybe even more, was a great source of comfort for me, and I can’t thank her enough for that.”
Ryder, who gained fame in her late teens with breakout roles like “Heathers” and “Bram Stoker’s Dracula,” has been supportive of Ortega, who plays Lydia Deetz’ daughter, Astrid, in the sequel. Ortega emphasized the importance of her character’s relationship with Lydia Deetz and teased fans with insights into their evolving storyline.
“And it’s also really strange because it’s a lot of catching up and putting the pieces together of what’s gone on in Lydia’s life since, which is nice, I think, for anybody who loves the character and is excited to see her again,” Ortega revealed in an earlier interview with Vanity Fair.
Reflecting on her time working with Ryder, Ortega described her as “just the loveliest” and “sweetest,” expressing deep admiration and gratitude for the opportunity to collaborate with her on the highly anticipated sequel.
“Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” which reunites Michael Keaton and Catherine O’Hara alongside Ryder, is scheduled to premiere in theaters this September.
