In a recent episode of his late-night show, Jimmy Kimmel humorously dissected the awkward dynamics between Donald Trump and Melania Trump during a rally at Madison Square Garden. This moment provided ample material for Kimmel, who returned from a week off to offer his witty commentary on the former president’s latest public appearance.
Kimmel began his monologue by highlighting Melania’s rare presence at the rally, joking, “Melania Trump made a rare appearance in compliance with section 3, subsection 2.7 of her prenuptial agreement.” This quip set the tone for Kimmel’s playful jabs at the couple’s on-stage chemistry. He remarked, “Look at the way these two lovebirds interact with each other. Their chemistry, it’s positively smoldering,” poking fun at their lack of warmth and affection.
The highlight of Kimmel’s critique came from a video clip showing Trump attempting to kiss Melania on the lips, only for her to redirect the gesture to a more formal kiss on the cheek. Kimmel quipped, “To me, there’s nothing more beautiful than watching a man and his wife try not to smudge each other’s Bronson cream,” underscoring the bizarre nature of their interaction.
Kimmel didn’t stop there. He labeled the rally itself as “ugly,” “mean,” “hateful,” “racist,” “antisemitic,” and “stupid.” He referenced a controversial speech by comedian Tony Hinchcliffe, where Hinchcliffe infamously referred to Puerto Rico as a “floating island of garbage.” Kimmel humorously noted, “They really pissed off Puerto Ricans to the point where Bad Bunny had to get involved, and that’s when you know you’ve got a problem.” He added, “Trump made such a mess with Puerto Ricans, they’re now throwing paper towels at him,” referencing the infamous moment in 2018 when Trump tossed paper towels to hurricane survivors in Puerto Rico.
In addition to critiquing the Trumps, Kimmel took aim at Dr. Phil for his speech at the rally. He reminded viewers that Dr. Phil had previously called Trump a narcissist on Kimmel’s show in 2015 and warned that he couldn’t be trusted in a major diplomatic crisis. Kimmel then played a clip of Dr. Phil dismissing celebrity endorsements for Kamala Harris, stating, “Celebrities don’t know anything about policies or politics.” Kimmel responded, “Agreed. So then let’s not elect one for president,” sarcastically highlighting the irony of Dr. Phil endorsing Trump, a former reality TV star himself.
Kimmel wrapped up his segment with a humorous jab, saying, “Oprah’s Frankenstein monster has finally turned on us,” driving home the absurdity of the entire situation.
