Amazon MGM is taking its highly acclaimed series Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan to the big screen, bringing back John Krasinski as the relentless CIA analyst Jack Ryan. This thrilling new development in the Jack Ryan franchise is set to expand the beloved series into a longform cinematic experience.
Andrew Bernstein, known for his work as an executive producer and director on Jack Ryan’s second season, will direct the feature film. Bernstein’s experience with high-stakes narratives from shows like Ozark and The Diplomat makes him an exciting choice to bring Jack Ryan’s cinematic journey to life. The screenplay, written by Aaron Rabin, brings in a seasoned touch, as Rabin also contributed as a writer and co-executive producer for the series’ fourth season.
Joining Krasinski, Wendell Pierce (The Wire) is set to reprise his role, adding depth to the series’ dynamic character lineup. Additionally, Michael Kelly (House of Cards) is reportedly in negotiations to return, which promises further continuity for fans of the Amazon series.
This project highlights Amazon’s dedication to expanding its Ryanverse, based on Tom Clancy’s novels but with a contemporary twist, through a collaboration with Skydance and Paramount Pictures. The film will be produced by Krasinski and Allyson Seeger under their Sunday Night banner, with Andrew Form, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, John Kelly, and Carlton Cuse as executive producers.
Krasinski’s recent film credits, including A Quiet Place: Day One and the family fantasy film IF, which he wrote, produced, and directed, underscore his versatility both in front of and behind the camera. Meanwhile, Pierce’s performance history with his agency Paradigm Talent and Kelly’s work with WME add to the film’s star power and credibility.
With Jack Ryan ranking among Amazon Prime Video’s top three most-watched series worldwide, the anticipation for this feature film is high, promising fans an action-packed adaptation that dives deeper into the life of one of America’s most iconic fictional analysts.
