The show will maintain its unique format, with correspondents like Desi Lydic, Ronny Chieng, Michael Kosta, and Jordan Klepper sharing hosting duties throughout the rest of the week. Stewart expressed his enthusiasm for staying with the team, humorously noting, “I was really hoping they’d allow me to do every other Monday, but I’ll just have to suck it up…”

Stewart’s Humor and Commitment

At the September Emmys, when asked about his plans with “The Daily Show,” Stewart joked, “Well, my feeling is this election will never end. So why would I? How could I leave? I won’t be allowed to leave until the election, until we’re all ground to some sort of calcified nubs…” This lighthearted remark captures the current political landscape, which has kept Stewart engaged in commentary.

A Legacy of Excellence

Stewart originally hosted “The Daily Show” from 1999 to 2015, earning the series widespread acclaim and 23 Emmy Awards during his tenure. After Stewart’s departure, Trevor Noah took over until 2022. The show faced a transition period, rotating guest hosts, including notable comedians like Sarah Silverman and Hasan Minhaj. Minhaj was initially offered the permanent hosting position, but the deal fell through after controversy surrounding his stand-up storytelling.

Since Stewart’s return, “The Daily Show” has enjoyed its highest ratings since 2018. Chris McCarthy, co-CEO of Paramount Global, praised Stewart’s return, stating, “Jon’s incisive intellect and sharp wit make him one of the most important voices in political and cultural commentary today.”
