Kamala Harris took aim at Donald Trump’s stamina and fitness for the presidency, accusing him of being too “exhausted” to handle the job. This attack came after reports surfaced that a Trump campaign adviser suggested the former president was too worn out to participate in interviews.

During a campaign rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on Friday, Harris questioned Trump’s ability to lead. “He is ducking debates and canceling interviews,” Harris declared. “Come on. And check this out: his own campaign team recently said it’s because of exhaustion.”

Harris, the Democratic presidential candidate, directly addressed her 78-year-old rival: “Well, if you are exhausted on the campaign trail, it raises real questions about whether you are fit for the toughest job in the world.”

This line of attack followed Trump’s decision to skip interviews with CNBC, NBC, and The Shade Room, fueling further speculation about his condition. Harris doubled down on the criticism, saying, “I’ve been hearing reports that his team is saying he’s suffering from exhaustion. That’s apparently why he’s not doing interviews, and, of course, he’s not doing the CNN town hall. He refuses to do another debate.”

Although Trump’s campaign denied that exhaustion was the reason for his absence from interviews, Harris kept up the pressure, even taking to X (formerly Twitter) to emphasize the point. Her team also highlighted that Trump cut a live interview short on Friday morning, suggesting this was further evidence of his fatigue.

At 59, Harris is 19 years younger than Trump and became the Democratic nominee after Joe Biden stepped down, amid concerns about his age and health. If Trump wins, he would become the oldest president to take office, surpassing Biden’s previous record.

Trump has consistently tried to counter claims about his age, frequently discussing his parents’ longevity and boasting about his physical activity, including his passion for golf. Still, Harris’ pointed remarks seem to have struck a nerve. When questioned by a reporter on Friday, Trump fired back, asking, “What event have I canceled?” and accusing Harris of lacking energy, calling her a “loser who doesn’t have the energy of a rabbit.”

Dismissing any concerns about his health, Trump insisted, “Tell me when you’ve seen me take a little bit of a rest. I’m not even tired. I’m really exhilarated.”

As the campaign heats up, the question of age and fitness will likely remain a focal point, with Harris’ latest jab hitting where it hurts.
