Just before Election Day, a New York state appeals court suspended Kenneth Chesebro’s law license, serving as a stark reminder of the failed efforts to subvert the 2020 election. This ruling highlights the potential consequences for anyone attempting to undermine the electoral process in the upcoming election.

On Thursday, the court made its decision based on Chesebro’s guilty plea last year in Georgia. He faced charges related to a scheme aimed at submitting false election results to Congress concerning the 2020 presidential election. Chesebro pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit filing false documents and has been implicated in similar cases in Wisconsin.

In its ruling, the New York court detailed that Chesebro, alongside notable figures such as Donald Trump, Rudy Giuliani, and John Eastman, unlawfully conspired in Georgia from December 6 to December 14, 2020. They attempted to file a document titled “Certificate of the Votes of the 2020 Electors from Georgia” in a U.S. court, despite knowing that the document contained false information.

The court concluded that, due to his conviction for a serious crime, Chesebro would be suspended from practicing law in New York on an interim basis.

Chesebro is not the only lawyer facing legal repercussions from the events surrounding the 2020 election. Others, including Giuliani, Eastman, Jeffrey Clark, and Jenna Ellis, are also grappling with legal challenges. Ellis recently accepted a plea deal in Georgia, further underscoring the ongoing ramifications of their actions.

As for Donald Trump, the outcome of the upcoming elections may influence when, and even if, he will face trial for his alleged involvement in these actions. The political landscape continues to evolve, with the potential for significant implications for all parties involved in the efforts to challenge the legitimacy of the 2020 election.
