Kim Cattrall has put an end to swirling rumors about her future on HBO Max’s And Just Like That, the continuation of the beloved series Sex and the City. In a recent social media post, Cattrall firmly addressed speculation regarding her return to the series, following her brief but memorable cameo in the Season 2 finale.
Responding to a fan’s tweet about a report suggesting she might join the upcoming season, Cattrall made her stance clear. “Aw, that’s so kind but I’m not,” she wrote on X (formerly Twitter), shutting down any further speculation about her involvement in the show’s next chapter.
Despite previous statements where Cattrall had expressed a definitive disinterest in returning to And Just Like That, rumors had persisted, suggesting her participation in the series’ third season. Production for the new season is already underway, with stars Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon, and Sarah Jessica Parker seen frequently on set in New York City.
Cattrall, known for her iconic role as Samantha Jones in the original Sex and the City series and its two films, had not appeared in the reboot when it first aired in 2021. Her absence from the series had been attributed to ongoing reports of a feud with Parker and her decision to skip a third film.
To the surprise of many fans, Cattrall made a notable return as Samantha Jones in a brief scene at the end of Season 2, which aired last year. In this cameo, Samantha had a phone conversation with Carrie Bradshaw, portrayed by Parker. Notably, neither Parker nor showrunner Michael Patrick King were present during Cattrall’s cameo shoot. It was reported by Variety that HBO and Max’s Chief Content Officer Casey Bloys played a key role in persuading Cattrall to make this brief return.
Despite the excitement surrounding her cameo, Cattrall has remained steadfast about her future with the franchise. In a pre-airing interview with NBC’s Today, she reiterated her decision to step away from the series, saying, “This is as far as I’m going to go.”
As fans continue to celebrate Cattrall’s memorable role in Sex and the City, it appears that any hopes for her more substantial involvement in And Just Like That will remain unfulfilled, with Cattrall firmly closing the door on further appearances.
