Horror fans are in for a treat as Terrifier breakout star Lauren LaVera is set to headline the upcoming horror-thriller The Monster alongside two-time Oscar nominee Djimon Hounsou. Directed by Darren Lynn Bousman of the Saw franchise, the film promises to deliver intense scares and suspenseful twists.
The film’s plot centers around two millennials who run a real estate scam, renting out luxurious New York City apartments that don’t belong to them. Their scheme goes smoothly until they cross paths with an apartment owner harboring a terrifying secret, shifting the game in ways they could never expect.
This exciting project will begin principal photography in Danbury, Connecticut, in November. The screenplay is written by Jonathan Bernstein and James Greer, with production led by Lee Nelson and David Tish of Envision Media Arts (The Ice Road) and Saw producer Mark Burg.
Lauren LaVera, who became a horror sensation through her role in the Terrifier franchise, is set to shine even brighter with her role in The Monster. She recently starred in The Life of Chuck alongside Tom Hiddleston, a Stephen King adaptation premiering at the Toronto Film Festival, and appeared in NBC’s Law & Order: Organized Crime.
Djimon Hounsou, known for his powerful roles in films like Blood Diamond and A Quiet Place: Day One, adds further star power to the cast. Hounsou is currently working on the thriller The Zealot and recently wrapped up Beneath the Storm, a shark thriller from Sony Pictures.
With the talent of LaVera, Hounsou, and the Saw franchise duo, The Monster is shaping up to be a highly anticipated release in the horror genre. Keep an eye out for more updates as filming begins and the release date approaches!
