Lauren Sánchez, engaged to Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, reveals a surprisingly low-key side to their home life in a recent interview with PEOPLE. Despite their high-profile careers and jet-setting lifestyle, Sánchez, 54, shares that she and Bezos enjoy quiet evenings at home, deciding which show to binge-watch together.
In the interview, Sánchez describes these moments of tranquility as her favorite. “My favorite time is when the house is calm and quiet, and Jeff and I are deciding what show we’re going to binge that night,” she says. Sánchez, who is gearing up for the release of her first children’s book, “The Fly Who Flew to Space,” splits her time between Los Angeles and Miami.
Like many couples, Sánchez and Bezos don’t always agree on their TV choices. “It takes a little bit of time to decide,” Sánchez admits with a laugh. “You can imagine our tastes are a little different. But I love our TV time; we just have the best time.” Their current favorites include “Baby Reindeer,” “Fallout,” “Presumed Innocent,” and “Severance.”
However, their nightly ritual will soon be interrupted as Sánchez prepares for a book tour to promote “The Fly Who Flew to Space,” a project she’s been working on for several years. The book, which Sánchez describes as a labor of love, follows Flynn, a fly who struggles academically but dreams of becoming an astronaut. Her journey reflects Sánchez’s own experiences with dyslexia and her belief that everyone can overcome challenges to pursue their dreams.
Sánchez shares, “One of the themes is that everyone learns differently, and even if school is hard, it doesn’t mean you can’t chase your dreams.” She hopes her book will inspire readers to stay curious and resilient.
