Sources have revealed that the sequel to Blue Streak is currently in early development, with Cole Maliska tapped to write the screenplay. At this stage, no additional cast members have been confirmed, but Lawrence is heavily involved in the production. He will be working alongside his production company, Run Tel Dat, and notable producers including Robert Lawrence, Rae Proctor, Stacy Lyles, and Toby Jaffe from RDV Films.
Originally released in 1999, the first Blue Streak movie featured Lawrence as Miles Logan, a jewel thief who disguises himself as a police detective to recover a diamond hidden at a police station. The film, which also starred Luke Wilson, debuted at No. 1 in North America and earned close to $120 million worldwide, solidifying its place in comedy history.
