Taking to Instagram on Sunday, the 54-year-old “Dallas Buyers Club” actor expressed his hopes and reflections in a voiceover accompanying the photo montage. “Alright Levi, coming on that age, buddy. About to be out on your own,” he began. “Me and your mom hope we’ve done as good of a job as we can. You’re not gonna really have us as a safety net out there in the wonderful, wild world forever.”
McConaughey, who has been married to Alves since 2012, continued with words of guidance for their eldest child. “Just go out, enjoy. Be aware of your surroundings. Be yourself. Know when to say yes, know when to say no, know when to say maybe,” he advised. “See the good in everybody else, but know that not everyone else is always paying attention. Take your time. Levi, born on July 7, 2008, is the couple’s first child. They also have a daughter, Vida, 14, and a younger son, Livingston, 11. On Levi’s 15th birthday, McConaughey and Alves introduced him to social media, marking another significant step in his journey to adulthood. In a joint Instagram post, McConaughey said, “Happy birthday Levi Alves McConaughey,” with Alves adding, “Fifteen years young,” to which McConaughey responded, “Hey, buddy, your mom is a little nervous today.
