Kayleigh McEnany, the former White House press secretary and current Fox News host, criticized President Biden’s response to recent college protests regarding the conflict in Gaza. During Fox’s “Outnumbered” talk show, McEnany expressed her refusal to credit Biden for his remarks on the demonstrations, emphasizing her stance that Biden, as a Democrat president, deserves no credit.
Biden’s comments, delivered at The White House, denounced violent protests and advocated for clarity, stating, “In moments like this, there are always those who rush in to score political points. But this isn’t a moment for politics. It’s a moment for clarity.” He emphasized that violent protest is not protected, while peaceful protest is.
McEnany, however, criticized Biden’s timing and suggested political motivations behind his remarks. She insinuated that if former President Trump had made the same remarks in the same timeline, there would have been significant media backlash and criticism.
Former President Trump himself joined the criticism against Biden’s response to the protests, comparing it to the treatment of those involved in the January 6, 2021, Capitol riots. Conservative pundits and lawmakers also voiced disapproval of Biden’s handling of the situation.
McEnany’s remarks underscore a broader narrative of partisan critique and comparison between the responses of Biden and Trump to protests and demonstrations.
