Melania Trump has been closely following her husband Donald’s trial, particularly interested in revelations she may not have been aware of previously, according to a former White House aide.

The trial, which commenced yesterday, marks the first time a former president has faced criminal charges. Trump stands accused of attempting to illegally influence the 2016 presidential election.

Prosecutors allege that Trump suppressed the release of damaging personal stories to bolster his electoral prospects. “This was a planned, coordinated, long-running conspiracy to influence the 2016 election – to help Donald Trump get elected through illegal expenditures to silence people who had something bad to say about his behavior, using doctored corporate records and bank forms to conceal those payments along the way,” prosecutor Matthew Colangelo said. “It was election fraud, pure and simple.”

In defense, Trump’s lawyer dismissed the case as groundless and questioned the credibility of a key witness now cooperating with the government. “President Trump is innocent. President Trump did not commit any crimes. The Manhattan district attorney’s office should never have brought this case,” lawyer Todd Blanche said, as reported by the Mirror.

Despite the trial’s commencement, Melania Trump was not present. When Trump appeared at a New York courthouse without her, he declined to disclose her whereabouts.

Stephanie Grisham, a former press secretary and previously the chief of staff to Melania Trump, suggested that Melania would be vigilantly following the trial for any “more damaging stuff” she might be unaware of.

“I can guarantee she’s watching every ounce of coverage. Melania is very much about proof – show me the proof. If some more damaging stuff should come out that she didn’t know about because her husband continues to deny all of the details about Stormy Daniels. If some other stuff comes out I think that will be really interesting to watch as you can’t really dispute things that are in writing and that is something she always paid attention to was proof.”

Contrary to suggestions from the host that Melania finds Trump’s hush money trial “distasteful,” the former aide retorted.

“She would say something,” claimed Grisham. “Melania Trump absolutely does what she wants to do and if she felt this was a disgrace, she would say something.”

On the day Melania missed the trial, she listed a necklace dubbed “Her Love and Gratitude,” for sale on her official website. This distinctive piece features a floral pendant, an adjustable chain, and an NFT described as a “limited-edition digital collectible.” The necklace offers customization options such as engraving names, initials, or significant dates.

“Being a mother is one of the most important roles in life,” Melania says in the bauble announcement. “For this Mother’s Day, I have designed the ‘Her Love and Gratitude’ necklace to express immense gratitude and honour all mothers. I tried not to laugh at the thought that she would be raising money for his defense,” Grisham said. “That’s not going to be it.”

Grisham believes Melania’s timing, which coincides with the first week of Trump’s criminal hush money trial, was not ideal.

“Had I been advising her, I would have said a couple of things,” Grisham said. “Number one, this is the first day of your husband’s criminal trial and you’re going to hawk some jewelry? Probably not a very good look.

“And then yeah, I would have at least said, ‘Hey, are we going to give this to some kind of, an initiative for children? ” Grisham said. Another inspiration might have been the recent passing of Melania’s mother, Grisham argued.

“Whether it’s Alzheimer’s or cancer, for some proceeds to go to,” Grisham said. “But instead it just says, ‘Here you go, buy this for $245.”
