Inuka was spotted at Fort Richmond Collegiate around 8:11 a.m. on the day he went missing. He dropped off some books at the library and left a few minutes later, heading towards Pembina Highway. The family has shared security pictures and videos with CTV News, which show Inuka visiting a 7/11 and Tim Hortons in the area that morning.
The community has been actively involved in the search for Inuka since Wednesday. Search groups have tracked his movements along Pembina Highway from Killarney Avenue to Thatcher Drive. However, the video trail stops at that point.
Inuka’s parents are pleading for any information that could lead to finding their son. Inuka’s mother, Nilanka Gadaba, emotionally stated, “My son, please come home.”
The Winnipeg Police Service’s missing persons unit is actively investigating the case, and the Pembina Trails School Division has sent out a bulletin to parents, urging anyone with information to contact the police.
Inuka’s classmates are also working to spread awareness about his disappearance, urging people to share posts and keep an eye out for him.
On Tuesday morning, Inuka’s family and friends plan to organize an event outside Victoria Hospital, appealing for any dash cam footage from the route Inuka took last Wednesday that might provide new details about his movements.
The police have described Inuka as approximately six feet tall, with a medium build and short black hair. He was last seen wearing glasses, a blue sweater, dark blue jeans, and black shoes.
Anyone with information about Inuka Gunathilaka’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Winnipeg Police Service’s missing persons unit at (204) 986-6250.
