According to a report from Raw Story on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough has dismissed Donald Trump’s complaints about his legal challenges, underscoring that the former president is facing the repercussions of his own past actions.

Scarborough’s response came after Trump expressed his displeasure about having to travel during his defamation trial to campaign in New Hampshire, attempting to garner sympathy from his supporters.

Morning Joe, however, was unsympathetic. “I still don’t get it, though. This guy is complaining, as the judge said, under any definition of assault, he assaulted a woman,” Scarborough stated.

Trump’s efforts to portray himself as a victim faced immediate pushback from Scarborough, who pointedly highlighted the serious allegations against the former president.

The defamation trial in question involves a woman for whom Trump was found liable for sexual abuse.

Scarborough was unequivocal, asserting that Trump’s ongoing legal challenges are not the result of a political vendetta but rather the consequences of his own actions.

“That’s not a Biden witch hunt, that’s Donald Trump’s past catching up with him.”

“We could keep going over the Iowa results, but people in Iowa said not only do they like their candidates that judges say assaulted women.”

“They’re more likely to vote for candidates if judges say they assaulted women and stole nuclear secrets and they gave away plans, let people in their own campaign hear top-secret plans on America’s plans to invade Iran,” Scarborough added with a touch of irony.

“That’s ‘Iowa nice,’ baby. That’s ‘Iowa nice’ defined in 2024.”

The comments underscore the surreal nature of Trump’s enduring political influence despite grappling with significant legal challenges.

Scarborough draws attention to the disconcerting fact that some voters appear undeterred by the serious allegations against Trump and may, in fact, be more inclined to support him.

The former president’s claim that no candidate had ever been treated as unfairly as him was promptly dismissed, with Scarborough emphasizing that candidates with such serious legal accusations rarely progress as far as Trump has.

“You know, people didn’t do it before because usually candidates who judges say are assailants don’t usually get this far,” Scarborough said.

“But what we found in Iowa a couple of nights ago was, well, Iowa Republicans that voted, those 14 percent, they like their presidential candidates that are called assailants by judges and they like their presidential candidates that steal nuclear secrets and like their presidential candidates that repeatedly defame women,” Scarborough remarked.
