New York Attorney General Letitia James has issued a stern warning to the Supreme Court regarding the hush-money case involving former President Donald Trump.

Bailey’s complaint aims to delay Trump’s September sentencing hearing and remove restrictions on his speech related to the case, arguing that these restrictions violate Missourians’ rights to hear from potential presidential candidates.
James, instrumental in prosecuting Trump over alleged hush-money payments to adult film actress Stormy Daniels, has urged the Supreme Court to reject Bailey’s request.

New York State Attorney General Letitia James has a long history of taking on powerful targets, including Trump. In her legal filing, she emphasized that a ruling in favor of Trump would “seriously undermine the integrity of the courts and risk setting a dangerous precedent that encourages a flood of similar, unmeritorious litigation.”
James stated, “Allowing Missouri to file this suit for such relief against New York would permit an extraordinary and dangerous end-run around former President Trump’s ongoing state court proceedings and the statutory limitations on this Court’s jurisdiction to review state court decisions.” She added that the potential sentence and speech restrictions would not prevent people from hearing from Trump if they wished.
Earlier this month, leaked emails revealed that James had collaborated with Biden’s Department of Justice to strategize their legal campaign against Trump.

In an interview with MSNBC’s Joy Reid, James confirmed her current focus is on supporting Vice President Kamala Harris in her efforts to defeat Trump. “I’m focused at this point in time on securing the nomination for Vice President Harris, and then ultimately getting her elected,” she said. She also emphasized her commitment to upholding the rule of law and representing the citizens of New York.
