“The Osbournes” podcast, Ozzy Osbourne, the legendary rock star, issued a public apology to Britney Spears, following his earlier disparaging remarks about her dancing videos. The apology, however, was accompanied by more than a hint of his previous criticism.
On July 30, 2024, Osbourne, 75, expressed regret for his comments made earlier this month, where he had criticized the pop star’s dance routines. “Britney, I really owe you an apology, I’m so sorry for making that comment,” Osbourne said during the episode. Despite his apology, he suggested that Spears, 42, might benefit from diversifying her dance moves. “However, it would be better if you didn’t do the same fucking dance every day. Change a few movements,” he added.
The controversy began on July 16, when Osbourne had remarked that he was “fed up of seeing poor Britney Spears dancing on YouTube every fucking day,” calling it “sad” and “very, very sad.” This comment quickly went viral, drawing criticism from fans and media alike.
Spears had previously faced scrutiny for a video she posted last year, where she danced with knives—a move that alarmed some of her followers. The singer, who had recently been freed from a restrictive 13-year conservatorship, dismissed concerns by claiming the knives were fake and urging her followers to “lighten up.”
In response to Osbourne’s remarks, Spears took to Instagram with a strongly worded message, which has since been deleted, telling the Osbourne family to “kindly fuck off.”
Initially, Osbourne’s family supported his criticism. On the July 16 podcast episode, his daughter Kelly expressed sympathy for Spears, and his wife Sharon described Spears as “a poor little thing.” However, during this week’s podcast episode, Kelly shifted her stance, defending Spears and encouraging her to continue dancing. “Britney, never stop dancing. I love your dancing. It makes you happy, and I am sorry if any of us offended you,” Kelly Osbourne said.
Sharon Osbourne also voiced her support, stating, “I like Britney a lot.” Despite this, Ozzy Osbourne remained critical, reiterating his affection for Spears while suggesting she mix up her dance routines. “I love Britney Spears, but it’s the same dance every day. I really do apologize. I love you, and I think you’re beautiful,” he said.
Jack Osbourne also chimed in, urging Spears to “mix it up” with her dance moves. The episode concluded with a recap of Osbourne’s apology, which was shared on Instagram with the caption, “Sorry, Britney — we still think you rock!”
This saga underscores the complexities of celebrity interactions and public apologies, with Osbourne’s mixed messages highlighting both his affection and continued critique of Spears.
