A recent report from Inquisitr on December 8, 2023, former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie didn’t hold back, launching a verbal assault on former President Donald Trump and fellow Republicans during the latest Republican Party Presidential Debate.
Christie accused Trump of undermining democracy, labeling him a coward, and criticized other GOP candidates for shying away from calling out the former president.
During the debate, Christie remarked, The fifth guy who doesn’t have the guts to show up and stand here, he’s the one who is way ahead in the polls.
Once a close ally of Trump, Christie has distanced himself since the 2020 election, where he criticized Trump’s unfounded claims of voter fraud and refusal to concede.
In Michigan, Christie took a swipe at Trump, referring to him as Donald Duck for skipping the GOP debate in California, where Christie was among the participants.
Despite Trump’s popularity among the Republican base, Christie believes that criticizing him won’t harm his chances in the primary. He stated, If you think you’re a better person to be president than Donald Trump, then you better make that case.
Trump responded indirectly in Michigan, dismissing Christie’s criticism, saying he got a big mouth and was a disaster as governor.
While Trump’s supporters remain loyal, Christie, who ran for president in 2016, plans to decide on his 2024 plans by the year’s end. Confident in his experience and leadership skills, Christie asserts that he is unafraid of Trump or any other contender.
