A psychiatrist who played a role in editing a book cautioning about the potential risks of Donald Trump’s mental health has disclosed that she, along with a team of well-credentialed mental health experts, conducted a comprehensive mental fitness evaluation of the former president based on information from the Mueller report. Dr. Bandy Lee, a former Yale medical expert, conveyed to Daily Express US on Saturday, January 27, 2024, that the evaluation, rooted in evidence from the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election, concluded that Trump was unsuitable for any role, particularly the presidency.

Dr. Lee emphasized the focus on reports from close associates and co-workers, as outlined in the Mueller report, which served as the primary basis for their fitness tests. Despite her request for an in-person examination of Trump, she received no response, with the assigned Secret Service member failing to show up. Dr. Lee proceeded with the evaluation, expressing alarm at the results.

“We performed a mental fitness test on Donald Trump. The information was far more rigorous than we usually have for fitness tests,” Dr. Lee stated. “It showed that he was not only unfit to be president but unfit to do any job. He is incapacitated in his ability to make rational decisions, to the point where he would be unfit for any job. He needs to be removed from the dangerous positions. For him, it would be removal from power and removal from the eye of the public.”

Dr. Lee, who edited the 2017 book ‘The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump,’ containing concerns from 27 psychiatrists, psychologists, and mental health experts, noted that she has consistently warned of Trump’s deteriorating condition, asserting that he poses a threat to the nation and the world.

The discussion on Trump’s mental well-being has become a focal point in the race for the Republican Party’s presidential nominee. Nikki Haley, Trump’s opponent, has suggested his potential mental unfitness for office and called for mental competency tests for politicians over the age of 75.

Contrary to the belief that age is the decisive factor, Dr. Lee emphasized that dangerousness has no age limit, stating that mental fitness tests should be mandatory for presidents and candidates due to the critical nature of the job.

Last Saturday, Trump claimed to have completed a mental fitness test and “aced it,” though he provided no details or evidence. He accused Biden of being mentally unfit and challenged him to undergo the same test.
