Legendary rock band The Rolling Stones surprised and thrilled fans at a recent concert with their first live rendition of a beloved song in 25 years. Led by iconic frontman Sir Mick Jagger, the British group has been a global music icon since their formation in 1962, known for hits like (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction, Paint it Black, and Gimme Shelter.
Their concert at the New Orleans Jazz Festival featured the first live performance of their cover of “Time Is On My Side” since 1998. Originally recorded by soul singer Irma Thomas in 1963, the song became a hit for The Rolling Stones after they released their version in 1964.
To celebrate 60 years since their rendition of the track, The Rolling Stones invited Irma Thomas, now 83 years old and known as the “Soul Queen of New Orleans,” to join them on stage. The collaboration marked only the second time they performed the song since 1982, adding to the excitement for fans at the festival.
During the performance, Sir Mick Jagger and Irma Thomas delivered a captivating duet, showcasing their musical prowess and bringing nostalgia to the audience. The band’s lineup, including Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood, continued to impress despite the absence of drummer Charlie Watts, who passed away in 2021.
This milestone performance not only delighted fans but also highlighted The Rolling Stones’ enduring influence and musical legacy, solidifying their status as one of the greatest rock bands of all time.
