Recent development, emails have emerged shedding light on the communication preferences of David Moren, a key aide to Dr. Anthony Fauci. These emails reveal Moren’s inclination towards utilizing private Gmail accounts as a means to bypass scrutiny and sidestep Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests.
The disclosure, brought forward by Tom Fitton on Thursday, May 30, 2024, President of Judicial Watch, underscores Moren’s directives to colleagues urging them to refrain from using official government email channels.
According to the correspondence, Moren advised colleagues to exclusively engage with him through his private Gmail account, asserting its security against FOIA requests and hacking endeavors.
Detailed in the emails were measures taken, with assistance from IT professionals, to fortify the security of Moren’s Gmail account across all devices, including government-issued equipment and personal devices.

Explicitly stating, “My Gmail is now safe from FOIA and hacking on all of my devices, including government computer and phone, and my private computer and iPad,” Moren reassured colleagues about the safety of communicating through this private channel, provided they adhered to his directives.
The emails unravel a deliberate strategy wherein news clips and other ostensibly innocuous information were forwarded from Moren’s government email to his private Gmail.
Moren rationalized this practice, asserting that forwarding public domain third-party items wouldn’t invite FOIA scrutiny.
Furthermore, colleagues were instructed to ensure that communications to Moren’s Gmail account omitted carbon copies (cc) to other government employees, aiming to further elude FOIA requests.
The disclosure of these emails raises pertinent concerns regarding transparency and accountability in government communications. By resorting to private email accounts for official business, Moren and associates could potentially evade oversight and public records laws aimed at ensuring governmental transparency.
This revelation is poised to ignite further scrutiny and discourse regarding the utilization of private communication channels by government officials to evade public accountability.
