Senator Tim Scott, a prominent Republican figure eyeing the 2024 presidential race, raised alarm on Friday over the deepening crisis at the Mexican border. Speaking on “Hannity” as reported by Fox News on Saturday, November 4, 2023, Scott expressed his grave concerns regarding the growing challenges faced by the United States.
Scott’s remarks follow concerning reports about high-profile threats to national security apprehended within the country, long after illegally crossing the porous border. Among those detained was a 29-year-old individual described as an “unlawfully present Mauritanian or Senegalese citizen.” Astonishingly, this individual was arrested in New York City, a staggering 2,600 miles away from the location where he purportedly crossed the border near Lukeville, Arizona.
Initially taken into custody near the border, the individual was released after being given a notice-to-appear document by Border Patrol, as confirmed by I.C.E.’s Enforcement and Removal Operations. Senator Scott did not hold back in his criticism of the Biden administration’s response to the border crisis, emphasizing that the President’s duty to secure the homeland is being neglected.
“Instead of finishing the wall, they literally have been selling off the construction material for the wall,” Scott asserted, highlighting what he sees as a lack of commitment to enhancing border security.
