As the 2024 election draws closer, Donald Trump has canceled yet another event, leaving many wondering if the Republican nominee is starting to feel the pressure.
Citing “changes in Trump’s schedule,” Trump called off a virtual town hall with longtime ally Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and former Representative Tulsi Gabbard just hours before it was set to begin. The “Make America Healthy Again” event was scheduled for Tuesday at 2 p.m., but supporters were left disappointed when Trump pulled the plug at the last minute.
This isn’t the first time Trump has ditched plans with Kennedy. According to RFK Jr.’s team, a previous virtual event was also canceled, with the blame falling on the unforeseen circumstances of Hurricane Milton. But with this second abrupt cancellation, questions have started swirling about Trump’s commitment to his alliance with Kennedy, who notably dropped out of the race in August to throw his support behind Trump.
Is Trump, at 78 years old, simply feeling the weight of his packed campaign schedule, or is there tension brewing between him and Kennedy?
Just hours before skipping the town hall, Trump took aim at Vice President Kamala Harris during a speech in Miami, accusing her of taking a day off. “She’s sleeping right now, she couldn’t go on the trail,” Trump said, in a failed attempt to recycle his old “Sleepy Joe” rhetoric against President Biden. “You’d think when you have 14 days left you wouldn’t be sleeping. She’s not doing anything today. I should take one of those.”
In reality, Harris wasn’t taking a break. She was conducting interviews with NBC and Telemundo in Washington, D.C., proving that her schedule was just as packed as ever.
Trump’s repeated cancellations have sparked further concern among supporters, especially after he recently bailed on appearances at an NRA convention and a popular online interview with The Shade Room, both citing the familiar excuse of “scheduling conflicts.” With the election fast approaching, some are left wondering if Trump can handle the demands of his campaign, or if he’s simply stretched too thin.
As the campaign season heats up, only time will tell if Trump can keep up with the pace or if more last-minute cancellations will follow.
