In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Snoop Dogg, 52, praised the lyrical prowess and songwriting skills of both Kendrick Lamar, 36, and Drake, 37. “Well, the only thing I want to say about that whole scenario is that I want to give both of them a shout out for raising the bar as far as lyrics, as far as song-making and writing because the writing has been upped since the confrontation,” Snoop expressed. “Those are my nephews. I’m not in the middle of it. I support both of them and that’s personal business, not my business.”

Acknowledging the impact of the feud on the rap industry, Snoop Dogg credited Kendrick and Drake for revitalizing the art of rap. “As far as what they did for the industry and the rap game, they made you rap again. You can’t mumble your way and gimmick your way to a song no more, buddy. So, thank y’all,” he added.

The rivalry between Kendrick Lamar and Drake dates back to the early 2010s and was recently reignited by Drake’s diss tracks, “Push Ups” and “Taylor Made Freestyle.” The latter faced backlash from Tupac Shakur’s estate for its use of artificial intelligence to emulate the late rapper’s voice.

Reacting to the controversy surrounding the AI-generated voice, Snoop Dogg took to Instagram in April to express his confusion and amusement. “They did what? When? How? Are you sure? Y’all have a good night,” he shared in a video, playfully dismissing the uproar.

In response to Drake’s diss tracks, Kendrick Lamar released his own retaliation earlier this month titled “Euphoria.” In the song, Kendrick addresses Drake directly, accusing him of being a “master manipulator” and a “habitual liar.” He also makes a pointed reference to the AI-generated Tupac voice, highlighting the contentious nature of their ongoing feud.
