Taylor Swift delivered an unforgettable surprise during her second run of five shows at London’s Wembley Stadium, as she brought out Ed Sheeran to perform with her on the first night, August 15. The pop sensation, who is currently on her Eras Tour, delighted the audience with a special acoustic set featuring their collaborations “Everything Has Changed” and “End Game,” as well as Ed’s hit song “Thinking Out Loud.”
The unexpected appearance of Ed Sheeran sent the crowd into a frenzy. Taylor introduced him by affectionately referring to him as “like a second brother,” acknowledging his relentless work ethic and frequent performances at Wembley. “Now he is someone that plays Wembley like every week. This is regular for him and he works so hard. He’s probably so tired but he wanted to come play for you and do this for all of you,” Taylor told the ecstatic audience.
This performance marked the first time in several years that the long-time friends shared the stage, although they have continued to collaborate in recent years. Their most recent joint project was a remix of “The Joker and the Queen” from Ed’s fifth studio album, released in February 2022. Ed also contributed to the re-recording of “Everything Has Changed” for Taylor’s 2013 album “Red (Taylor’s Version).” Fans are eagerly awaiting the release of “Reputation (Taylor’s Version),” where Ed is expected to feature on their song “End Game.”
The London shows are particularly significant for Taylor, as they are her first performances in the city since the tragic stabbing in Southport, England, during a Taylor-themed yoga/dance class that resulted in the deaths of three little girls and injuries to ten others. Additionally, these shows follow the discovery and foiling of a terror plot in Vienna, Austria, which led to the cancellation of three shows there—marking what would have been Taylor’s first performances in the country.
Taylor’s Eras Tour in London will conclude with her final show on August 20, bringing an end to the European leg of the tour. She will resume the tour in October, performing in five more cities across North America, with the grand finale set for December 8, 2024.
