Shannen Doherty, the iconic Beverly Hills 90210 actress, has made a startling allegation against her estranged husband, Kurt Iswarienko. According to Doherty, Iswarienko is deliberately ignoring her requests for financial support, allegedly hoping she will die from cancer before he is obligated to pay spousal support.
A Long Battle with Cancer
Diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, Doherty had been in remission until 2020 when she received a devastating stage four diagnosis. Despite her ongoing health battles, Doherty has continued to seek financial stability. In April 2023, after 11 years of marriage, she filed for divorce from Iswarienko and has been pursuing spousal support to help cover her living and medical expenses.

Seeking Financial Support
Doherty is seeking $15,434 per month in spousal support, alongside over $9,000 in legal fees. She has claimed that her residual income from her role in “Charmed” is decreasing and that she is on the verge of losing her SAG health insurance due to her inability to work. However, she alleges that Iswarienko is stalling the divorce proceedings to avoid paying this support.

Legal Battles and Allegations
According to legal documents obtained by People, Doherty stated: “It is simply not right that Kurt be permitted to prolong our divorce in hopes that I die before he is required to pay me while he continues to live his life and shirk his responsibilities to his dying wife of more than 11 years.”
Iswarienko’s lawyer, Katherine Heersema, has denied these allegations, stating that Kurt wishes the best for Shannen and desires to resolve the case so both parties can move on. Heersema also mentioned that Iswarienko had offered Doherty a settlement in October 2023, which Doherty declined.

A Relationship in Turmoil
The end of Doherty and Iswarienko’s marriage has been marked by deep betrayal and emotional turmoil. Doherty claims she discovered Iswarienko had been having a two-year affair just as she was preparing for brain surgery earlier this year. On her podcast “Let’s Be Clear,” Doherty recounted the distressing experience: “I didn’t think that I was going to make it. I was positive that I was going to die… I went into that surgery early in the morning, and I went in after I found out that my marriage was essentially over.”
Looking Ahead
Amid her personal and health struggles, Doherty has also been candid about her future. She has shared details about her funeral plans, expressing her wish for her ashes to be mixed with those of her father and her dog. She has also mentioned that there are certain people she does not want at her funeral, though she did not disclose any names.
Shannen Doherty’s fight for financial support and her allegations against Kurt Iswarienko highlight the emotional and legal complexities that often accompany divorce, especially in the face of terminal illness. As she continues her battle with cancer, Doherty remains a figure of resilience and courage.
