Tina Malone, renowned for her role in “Shameless,” commemorated what would have been her husband Paul Chase’s 42nd birthday with a poignant message. Paul, an army veteran, sadly took his own life in March after battling with PTSD.
In a heartfelt post shared today, Tina expressed her grief, stating, “Today my husband Paul is 42. He left our home eleven weeks ago today and never came back. The pain and sorrow we feel is overwhelming.” She mentioned their daughter, Flame, and what she would have brought to him on his birthday, adding, “now at peace my hero, my world x.”
Her message garnered support from followers, with one offering love and prayers during this difficult time, while another wished a heavenly birthday to Paul.
Tina revealed that Paul’s struggles with PTSD led to his tragic decision earlier this year, announcing the launch of a charity in his honor. She disclosed, “I’ve not spoken about this publicly until this minute. It’s the first time I’ve said it and confirmed it. Paul did commit suicide. I believe in transparency.”
Reflecting on her loss, Tina expressed the enduring pain and love she holds for her late husband. She emphasized the need for openness about mental health issues and the challenges faced by veterans. Paul, a former member of the 22nd Regiment of the Cheshires, served his country for a decade, with deployments in various conflict zones.
Tina recalled the moment she learned of Paul’s passing, noting the signs that hinted at the tragic outcome. She stated, “I heard sirens, saw flashing blue lights, and I knew.”
Paul’s struggle with PTSD began three years ago, and in honor of his memory, Tina announced the launch of the Paul’s Flame foundation on May 28, his birthday. She remarked, “The only way I can get through is by fighting for change, addressing the issues facing veterans and soldiers, trying to help others.”
Tina’s touching tribute serves as a reminder of the importance of mental health awareness and support for those affected by PTSD, honoring Paul’s memory by advocating for change and assistance for veterans in crisis.
