Tori Spelling and Brian Austin Green have finally broken their silence on what led to their 18-year estrangement following their time on the hit show Beverly Hills, 90210. The two actors, who portrayed the beloved characters Donna Martin and David Taylor, recently reunited on Green’s podcast Oldish, where they discussed the end of their friendship and how they eventually reconciled.
Spelling shared that as the series was coming to a close in 2000, she was overwhelmed with emotions, fearing that she and Green would drift apart after spending a decade working together. “It was almost like going through a divorce or something,” she admitted. “I’m losing that human I’m with every day and have that connection with. What’s going to happen now?”
Green, however, reassured her at the time that they would always remain close, even promising that they would go on vacations together. But that promise was broken, and the two didn’t speak for nearly two decades.
The rift deepened when Green, now married to Megan Fox, felt ignored by Spelling at a 90210 DVD release party, where she was with her then-husband, Dean McDermott. Spelling, reflecting on the incident, acknowledged that her complicated relationship with actor Vincent Young, who also starred on 90210, was partly to blame for the distance between her and Green.
Despite the challenges, both actors expressed gratitude for their renewed friendship. “We’re back to having that relationship that we had, so I love the fact that we can have this conversation now,” Green said. “We won. It’s a victory lap that we get to take on this. We made it through, and here we are again.”
Their reconciliation comes at a poignant time, as they recently mourned the loss of their 90210 co-star Shannen Doherty, who passed away last month at the age of 53 after battling cancer. Both Spelling and Green paid heartfelt tributes to Doherty on social media, highlighting the deep connections formed during their time on the show.
The candid discussion between Spelling and Green not only sheds light on their past misunderstandings but also serves as a reminder of the enduring bonds formed through shared experiences. Fans of Beverly Hills, 90210 can find solace in knowing that two of their favorite stars have rekindled their friendship after so many years.
