ANDERSON, S.C. – A quiet morning in Anderson County turned into a horrific crime scene after two people were found shot to death in a brutal attack that left one survivor clinging to life.
Authorities rushed to Quinn Street around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, where they discovered the lifeless bodies of Christian Jordan Woods, 22, and Rona Paul McGirt, 59, both of Anderson. A third victim, a wounded man, managed to escape and flag down help before being rushed to the hospital. He is expected to make a full recovery.
Investigators wasted no time identifying the alleged gunman: Darren Demetrius Martin, a registered sex offender with a dark past. He was swiftly taken into custody and now faces multiple charges, including:
- Two counts of murder
- One count of attempted murder
- Possession of a weapon during a violent crime
Martin, now locked up in the Anderson County Detention Center, has a history that raises even more questions. Court records reveal that he was previously charged with murder in a 2020 homicide case, though those charges were later dismissed.
As detectives work tirelessly to piece together what led to this horrifying act of violence, authorities say the investigation is still unfolding. More details are expected to emerge as the case develops.
