Donald Trump has once more brushed aside inquiries regarding his health records, as Kamala Harris raises concerns about his suitability for the presidency. The former president and Republican nominee is under scrutiny for his refusal to provide updated medical information, especially with the presidential election just weeks away.
During a recent stop at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport on October 18, 2024, Trump responded to questions about his health records, asserting that he has already shared enough information. “Yeah, my health records – I’ve done five exams over the last four years. You’ve got them all,” Trump stated, indicating he was too focused on campaigning against Harris to address the issue of his health.
At 78, Trump is poised to become the oldest person in U.S. history elected president if he wins the election on November 5. He claimed to have taken cognitive tests, insisting he “aced them” and challenged Harris to undergo similar evaluations, suggesting that she “wasn’t born smart.”
While Trump previously indicated he would “very gladly” release his medical records, his campaign has yet to follow through. In contrast, Harris, who will turn 60 this weekend, released a detailed health report from her White House doctor on October 12. A Trump campaign spokesperson pointed to a previous letter from Trump’s doctor, along with memos from former White House physician Ronny Jackson, but critics have argued these do not suffice as comprehensive health assessments.
Harris has intensified her focus on Trump’s health in recent rallies, questioning his refusal to disclose a full health report and his absence from a second debate. “It makes you wonder, why does his staff want him to hide away?” she said during a rally in North Carolina. “Are they afraid that people will see that he is too weak and unstable to lead America?”
Adding fuel to the fire, Harris referenced a report suggesting that Trump canceled an interview due to exhaustion, raising further doubts about his capability to handle the demands of the campaign trail. “If he can’t handle the rigors of the campaign trail, is he fit to do the job? I think it’s a legitimate question,” she said during an event in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
In addition to questioning Trump’s physical fitness, Harris has expressed concerns about his mental stability. Following a recent town hall event where Trump faced medical emergencies and chose to listen to music instead of engaging with the audience, Harris mockingly tweeted, “Hope he’s okay.”
