A surprising move, former President Donald Trump is shaking things up by disputing Time’s recent Person of the Year choice. Trump claims he, not Taylor Swift, should be the one in the spotlight.
Despite a rocky 2023 filled with legal battles, Trump isn’t happy about Taylor Swift snagging the prestigious title. Time praised Swift for her groundbreaking blend of art and commerce, recognizing her significant impact.
Trump, however, isn’t holding back. He’s taken to his Truth Social platform to share an article from the DC Enquirer, penned by a passionate 19-year-old Trump supporter, Reed Cooper. Cooper’s article slams Swift as a left-wing singer and asserts Trump’s superiority, highlighting his achievements across various aspects of life.
Cooper’s argument focuses on Trump’s accomplishments during his presidency, addressing issues like human trafficking, taking on big pharma, boosting the economy, and earning the title of a president of peace.
On the flip side, Time’s recognition of Swift emphasizes her outstanding achievements in 2023. From a record-breaking world tour to a concert movie that shattered box office records, Swift’s influence even reached the U.S. economy, as acknowledged by the Federal Reserve.
Time’s Editor-in-Chief, Sam Jacobs, highlighted Swift’s unprecedented impact, citing her numerous No. 1 albums and her pervasive presence in stadiums and records, comparing her economic influence to countries’ GDP.
Swift’s influence extended beyond the music scene, with university courses dedicated to studying her work in literature, business, and law.
However, Trump’s 2023 was marred by legal challenges. Despite seeking the 2024 Republican Presidential nomination, he faces 91 felony charges, including election interference and fraud. Additionally, he’s entangled in a defamation lawsuit filed by E. Jean Carroll, alleging sexual assault in the mid-1990s.
As Swift soared in influence, Trump grappled with legal woes, creating a sharp contrast between their respective trajectories in 2023.
