Setting his sights squarely on President Joe Biden, Donald Trump took to a nearly six-minute video late Monday night to voice his grievances and issue a direct warning to the current president. In the video, Trump asserted that the incoming president, whoever that may be, is subject to a six-year statute of limitations—a timeframe he emphasized with a pointed message to Biden, stating, “That’s a long time, Joe.”
Citing concerns over the state of affairs in the U.S., Trump drew parallels to “banana republics” and alleged facing asymmetrical legal threats due to his attempts to expose corruption in the 2020 presidential election, a move he contends curtailed his time in the White House to a single term.
Repeating unverified claims, Trump accused Biden of manipulating the “Department of Injustice” to target political adversaries. Despite assumptions to the contrary, Trump insisted that Biden is personally orchestrating these actions, issuing a veiled warning to the current president, cautioning, “He has to be careful because that could happen to him also.”
Employing slogan-like rhetoric, Trump emphasized the need to “guard and protect our country” and pointed fingers at Biden for what he perceives as a deluge of indictments. In a final jab, Trump criticized the alleged indictment of a political opponent for opposing what he deems a corrupt election, drawing parallels to his unfulfilled promises in 2016 to arrest and “lock up” Hillary Clinton.
