Former President Donald Trump, in a bold declaration on his social media platform Truth Social, claimed exoneration in the Georgia criminal case against him, citing revelations about the relationship between Fulton County special prosecutor Nathan Wade and district attorney Fani Willis, as reported by Raw Story on Wednesday.
Trump asserted, “The fact that Fani Willis and ‘Lover’ Wade unquestionably started their relationship BEFORE the beginning of their FAKE case that was brought against me and many others, would unequivocally mean, according to virtually all legal experts and scholars, THAT THIS CASE IS OVER!”
The crux of Trump’s assertion relied on the timeline of the relationship between Wade and Willis. Terrence Bradley, a former law partner of Nathan Wade, played a crucial role in the recent hearing by addressing speculations about the commencement of Wade and Willis’s relationship.
During the hearing, Trump’s attorney, Steve Sadow, pressed Bradley on his previous statements regarding the timeline. Bradley, who had communicated that Wade and Willis were romantically involved since late 2019, claimed uncertainty about the exact start date, suggesting his earlier statements were speculative.
Sadow insinuated that Bradley was intentionally avoiding disclosing pertinent details and implied Bradley possessed knowledge of the relationship’s timeline but was hesitant to reveal it in court.
“Why in the heck would you speculate?” asked Sadow at the hearing. Despite Bradley’s insistence on uncertainty, Sadow countered, “Except for the fact that you do, in fact, know when it started, and you don’t want to testify to that in court. That’s the best explanation.”
Trump seized upon Bradley’s testimony as grounds for the removal of Willis and Wade from the case. Such a decision, if upheld by Fulton County Judge Scott McAfee, could potentially lead to significant delays or even dismissal of the prosecution.
Bradley, who also served as Wade’s divorce attorney, admitted to having limited recollection of conversations regarding Wade’s relationship with Willis, recalling a single instance where Wade mentioned being in a relationship but struggled to provide specifics.
Trump’s claims, based on the alleged relationship controversy, add a new layer of complexity to the ongoing legal proceedings in Georgia. The outcome of the hearing and subsequent decisions could have profound implications for the trajectory of the case against Trump and his co-defendants.
