Former President Donald Trump is firing back after a bombshell report revealed that top-secret war plans were leaked to a journalist—via a defense officials’ chat group on Signal.
The Atlantic’s editor-in-chief, Jeffrey Goldberg, shocked readers by revealing that he had been mysteriously added to a private chat where military officials were discussing strikes on Yemen. The revelation sparked major security concerns, but Trump insists he knows nothing about it.
“I don’t know anything about it,” he said on Monday, brushing off the report. “I’m not a big fan of The Atlantic. To me, it’s a magazine that’s going out of business. I think it’s not much of a magazine, but I know nothing about it.”
The former president even asked a reporter to explain the situation, appearing to be caught completely off guard. When told that the officials had been using Signal to share sensitive military information, Trump seemed skeptical.
“What were they talking about?” he asked. “You mean the attack on the Houthis?”
Then, with his signature confidence, he dismissed concerns about the leak altogether. “Well, it couldn’t have been very effective because the attack was very effective,” he quipped.
As questions swirl over how a high-profile journalist ended up inside a classified military chat, Trump’s reaction only adds to the intrigue.
