Former President Donald Trump took to his Truth Social platform on Monday, December 4, accusing the Lincoln Project, a political action committee opposed to him, of employing artificial intelligence (AI) to manipulate footage in their attack ads.
In a fiery post, Trump claimed, “The perverts and losers at the failed and once disbanded Lincoln Project, and others, are using A.I. in their Fake television commercials in order to make me look as bad and pathetic as Crooked Joe Biden, not an easy thing to do.”
Dismissing the ads as an attempt to undermine him, Trump criticized major news outlets, including Fox News, stating, “FoxNews shouldn’t run these ads, just as low ratings CNN & MSDNC will not, under any circumstances, run negative ads on Biden or the Democrats. They are, after all, in-kind campaign contributors to the Dems!”
Despite Trump’s claims, there is no evidence supporting the use of AI technology to alter footage of him. Experts dismiss it as an effort to discredit anti-Trump ads by the Lincoln Project and other critics.
The Lincoln Project, known for its biting ads targeting Trump and his allies, recently labeled him as “weak” and “feeble” for not opposing extreme elements within his party. This critique appears to have provoked a strong reaction from the former president.
Accusing his opponents of employing underhanded techniques allows Trump to deflect criticism without directly addressing the substance of the attacks. However, the absence of concrete proof raises questions about the validity of his claims.
Trump’s history of accusing media manipulation and unfair coverage aligns with this latest claim that AI is being weaponized to doctor unflattering videos of him.
