Roger Stone, a strong supporter of Donald Trump, has been slamming Florida Governor Ron DeSantis across various social media platforms in recent days, as reported by Newsweek on Sunday, December 24, 2023.
Stone, a close associate of former President Trump, has escalated his criticisms of DeSantis, who is grappling with challenges in boosting his popularity and positioning himself as a stronger contender than Nikki Haley in the upcoming Iowa caucuses.
On X (formerly Twitter) last Saturday, Stone posted several memes ridiculing DeSantis and his followers. One meme, titled Life After DeSanctimonious, depicts a man holding a sign that reads, homeless please help, playfully referencing a nickname coined by Trump.
In another creative jab, Stone humorously dubbed DeSantis supporters as Desimps in a modified cereal box image, playfully alluding to the term ‘simp’ for those overly devoted to someone they admire.
Stone has also directed criticism towards Casey DeSantis, the wife and primary political adviser of Governor DeSantis, stating on Friday that mobilizing voters for a disliked candidate is challenging, citing a New York Times article on DeSantis’ struggling campaign.
In a more scathing remark, Stone called DeSantis a treacherous, backstabbing, weasel devoid of any character whatsoever, alleging a significant personality disorder and suggesting a financial probe would expose dishonesty once he withdraws from the presidential race.
Notably, Stone faced backlash for targeting Casey DeSantis in November, and in September, he criticized Congressman Matt Gaetz for supporting DeSantis, warning of consequences for those backing the Florida governor.
It’s worth mentioning that Stone, who faced charges in 2019 related to the Trump-Russia collusion investigation, was pardoned by Trump in July 2020, just before he was set to begin a 40-month prison term.
