Former President Trump took to Truth Social on Friday, December 15, 2023, to reveal that LIV Golf is making a grand return to Trump National Doral. The championship showdown is set to unfold in April 2024 at the Miami-based course, marking a major collaboration between LIV and the Trump-owned venue, as reported by Fox News.
In his Truth Social post, Trump shared the exciting news, stating, TRUMP NATIONAL DORAL, in Miami, has just signed with LIV GOLF to host a Championship Tournament in April 2024, highlighting the success of the previous Doral event in October.
While Trump confirmed the partnership, an official announcement from LIV Golf is still pending. The 2024 LIV Golf schedule, unveiled in November, originally omitted a Trump golf course as a host site. However, an April tournament was left without a specified venue.
The LIV Golf 2024 season kicks off at the El Camaleon Golf Course in Mexico in February, initiating a series of 14 events across the United States and abroad.
LIV Golf gained momentum when renowned golfer Jon Rahm joined the league, departing from the PGA Tour to align with the Saudi-backed venture. Rahm, in an interview with Fox News’ Bret Baier, highlighted LIV’s team format as a key factor in his decision.
It is not an easy decision because I’ve had a really successful career, and I’ve been very happy. But there’s a lot of things that LIV Golf has to offer that were very, very enticing, starting with team golf, Rahm explained.
He emphasized the significance of team dynamics, drawing on his experiences with the Spanish national team and the Arizona State golf team. Rahm expressed excitement about LIV Golf’s innovative approach to the sport and its potential.
Rahm’s move to LIV Golf reportedly came with a lucrative deal valued at $300 million over three years, marking a significant development for the league and showcasing its growing influence within the golfing community.
