Arnold Schwarzenegger, famously known as the ‘Austrian Oak,’ has solidified his legacy in action cinema, starring in iconic franchises like The Terminator and Predator. His collaboration with renowned director James Cameron for a canceled Spider-Man movie had initially earmarked Schwarzenegger for the role of Dr. Octopus. Despite the project’s demise, fans are now proposing a new Marvel character for the action icon to join forces with Ryan Reynolds in the Deadpool film series.

While his chance to portray the Marvel villain was cut short, enthusiasts have rallied behind Schwarzenegger, suggesting he take on the role of Colossus from the X-Men series. Colossus, known for his ability to transform into organic steel, has made appearances in various X-Men films, portrayed by actors like Donald Mackinnon and Daniel Cudmore.
Fans strongly advocate for Schwarzenegger’s potential to embody the X-Men character, believing he could have brought a unique depth to the role. Director Tim Miller’s desire to revamp Colossus’ portrayal, similar to the comics, led to multiple actors contributing to the character’s on-screen presence in the 2016 Deadpool movie.
This revamp included motion-capture stunts by Andrei Tricoteux and T.J. Storm, facial modeling by Glenn Ennis, and a distinctive voice by Stefan Kapičić. Interestingly, the character’s physical appearance drew inspiration from Schwarzenegger’s physique during his body-building days, highlighting the potential synergy between the iconic action star and the character’s persona.
As Deadpool 3 gears up for its release on May 3, 2024, the question remains: could Schwarzenegger’s entry into the Marvel universe have rewritten the franchise’s history?
The Deadpool film series, encompassing Deadpool and Deadpool 2, is currently available on Disney+ for eager fans awaiting the third installment.
