Many fans expressed their desire to see Jac, played by Ibinabo Jack, return to the show. Jack portrayed DC Jacqueline ‘Jac’ Williams for five years before leaving to pursue theatre opportunities. She was replaced by Rhiannon Clements, who plays the ambitious DC Steph Duncan. Fans have been vocal about missing Jac and wishing for her comeback. One fan said, “I would have loved to see more of her, I wish she would come back,” and another added, “Yes, I was gutted when she left.”

In addition to Jac, fans are also nostalgic about Aiden Healy, played by Kenny Doughty, who left the show in the previous year’s festive special. There is speculation about whether he might return to bid farewell to DCI Stanhope.

David Leon, who played Vera’s first partner Joe Ashworth, made a return earlier this year, which delighted many fans. His reappearance has raised hopes that other former cast members might also make a comeback in the final episodes.

The anticipation for Vera’s final series, set to air early next year, is immense. Brenda Blethyn shared her mixed emotions about leaving the show: “Working on Vera has been a joy from beginning to end and I’m sad to be saying Cheerio. But I am so proud of our achievements over the last fourteen years. I’ll be forever grateful to the wonderful Ann Cleeves who created Vera, and to Elaine Collins who saw fit to cast me in the role. The Producers, dream cast, and crew have been fabulous and I’m going to miss them, but I won’t forget their huge talent, the camaraderie, laughter or kindness we shared nor the friendship of the people of the northeast and our fans worldwide. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

Fans worldwide are eager to see how the beloved detective’s story concludes and whether their favorite characters will return for one last adventure. The final series of Vera promises to be a memorable farewell to one of television’s most cherished detectives.
