Nearly four years after Brandon Truman life was cut short, his mother is still searching for answers and justice. In October 2021, 26-year-old Brandon was found shot and burned along Birnamwood Boulevard, near Houston’s Bush Intercontinental Airport. Despite the horrific circumstances, the person responsible has never been caught.
Brandon’s mother, Jennifer Forbes, opened up exclusively to KHOU 11 about the heartbreaking loss. “He was a good-hearted person,” she said. “No matter what, he was always there and cared about you.”
Driven by love and determination, Forbes traveled all the way from her home in North Carolina to Houston, just days after her birthday, to keep her son’s story alive and urge anyone with information to come forward. “I just want somebody to do the right thing,” she said. “What happened to Brandon—no one deserves that.”
Since her son’s death, Forbes has kept in constant contact with detectives, calling every month in pursuit of justice. She describes the cruel way Brandon was found: shot, naked, and left on the side of a road like trash. “He was only 26 years old,” she said, her pain clear.
Crime Stoppers of Houston, with the help of Andy Kahan, has joined Forbes in her search for answers. They are offering a reward of up to $5,000 for any information that leads to an arrest. “Let’s be honest, someone out there knows who did this,” Kahan said. “Grief grows deeper when justice is missing, and right now, Brandon’s family is still waiting.”
Forbes holds on to hope that one small tip could finally break the case and bring her peace. “If justice comes, I can finally let him go,” she shared.
